Third Year - Lesson 3

Ramora
The Ramora is a silver fish found in the Indian
Ocean. It is a Class XX (2X) beast because it is not particular
dangerous. It is, however, highly valued by the International
Confederation of Wizards. To that end, many laws are in place to
protect the Ramora from wizard poachers.
The reason the Ramora is so valued is not just that it
is silver. It has powerful magic. The Ramora can actually
anchor ships. It is also a guardian of seafarers, and there are
tales of a school of Ramora protecting a ship during storms, though no
direct evidence.
Dark wizards attempt to capture Ramora. There are
dark rumors of experiments to replicate the Ramora's magic or to just
take the silver from the Ramora.

Glumbumble
Glumbumbles are found in northern Europe. They are
flying insects, grey and furry-bodied. The Glumbumble is a Class
XXX (3X) beast. The reason for this is that Glumbumbles produce a
treacle which induce melancholy.
The treacle alone can be quite negative. They have
been known to infest beehives, and affect the honey with their
treacle. The treacle has an advantage, however. It is used
as an antidote to the hysteria produced by eating Alihotsy leaves.
Glumbumbles nest in dark, secluded places, such as caves
and hollow trees, or beehives. They feed on nettles. This
might well explain why they produce melancholy treacle.
And, yes, I know the creature's name is misspelled in
the picture. Bleh!

Salamander
Salamanders are small lizards. They live in fire
and feed on flame. They are brilliant white, but usually appear
blue or scarlet, depending upon the heat of the fire. Salamanders
can survive up to six hours outside of fire if regularly fed hot
pepper. They will only live as long as the fire from which they
sprang burns.
Salamanders are a Class XXX (3X) creature. Their
danger is that they are hot. Should you place a Salamander on a
wooden table, for example, the table will catch on fire. That, and
you need special gloves just to touch one.
Nobody knows why a Salamander appears in different
fires. They are highly sought after, however, because Salamander
blood has powerful curative and restorative properties.
