Now, then, listen up. I don't want to have to be
saying this twice.
Fifth Year - Lesson 1

Many spells require specific items to help make the
spell work. Likewise, potions require more than water to
work. To that end, many magical creatures have their parts
harvested for spell components.
The method of harvesting depends on the type of
wizard. Most good wizards will take items from beasts dead from
natural causes. Or, if it be a feather or such, will try to gather
the item where it may have fallen in a nest.
Dark wizards care nothing for the life of another
creature, and think nothing of slaying a creature to take what parts
they want, be it blood or heart.
Of course, sometimes good wizards may desire a part
harder to come by, such as a heart. To that end, some wizards may
breed the beast, just as Muggles breed cows for their parts.
Still, even then they will show caution, for as not to ruin their souls
in the quest for magic.
