Fifth Year - Lesson 3

Kneazle
Originally bred only in Britain, Kneazles now exist
worldwide. They are small catlike creatures, with outsize ears and
a tail like a lion. Their fur is flecked, speckled, or
spotted.
Kneazles are independent, intelligent, and occasionally
aggressive. However, if they take a liking to a wizard, they make
excellent pets, which explains their Class XXX (3X) rating. Kneazles can
always detect suspicious or unsavory individuals. They are always
able to guide lost owners home, as well. Some wizards experiment
with Kneazle fur in creating devices to detect danger.
Kneazles can have up to eight kittens per litter, and
are able to breed with normal cats. They are sufficiently unusual
in appearance to attract Muggle notice, so special licenses are required
for ownership.

Lobalug
Lobalugs are found at the bottom of the North Sea.
They are approximately ten inches long. They are a venom sac and a
long rubbery spout.
When threatened, Lobalugs contract the venom sac and
spew poison on their attacker. This gives them their Class XXX
(3X) rating.
Merfolk use Lobalugs as weapons. Some wizards will
careful extract their poison for use in potions, although this practice
is strictly controlled.

Knarl
Knarls look like Hedgehogs. In fact, it is almost
impossible to tell the difference between Knarls and Hedgehogs.
The difference is in behavior. Knarls are suspicious and can
savage things when suspicious.
The most common example is a gift of food. If food
is left out for a Hedgehog, the Hedgehog eats the food and enjoys the
gift. Food left out for Knarls, however, is viewed as an attempt
to trap the Knarl. The Knarl will then savage the householder's
garden plants and/or garden ornaments. Many Muggle children have
been blamed for vandalism, when it was simply an offended Knarl.
Knarls are a Class XXX (3X) creature. While not
particularly dangerous, their suspicious nature can lead to problems.
