Eh, there.  Welcome back.  Got some not so dangerous things today.

Fifth Year - Assignment 5

Pegasus

The Pegasus, or Winged Horse, are a creature of great beauty.  The sheer build of a horse with wings make them a wonder to behold whether on land or in the air.  As one might expect, many wizards seek the Pegasus as a mount.  For some, a broom is nothing more than a mechanical contrivance, and a Pegasus is the only true mount.

Of course, not all Pegasus are the same.  There are many breeds.  There are the Granians, grey and fast, and Aethonans, a British Chestnut.  The Thestral is black, invisible, and considered unlucky by many wizards.  A wizard who can see a Thestral has seen death firsthand.

Winged Horses have a Classification of XX to XXXX (2X to 4X).  While some Pegasi are more gentle, some are quite vicious.  There is rumor of one breed that actually prefers to eat human flesh.  Of course, any Pegasus owner must cast a Disillusionment Charm on it regularly, and may find themselves in extreme trouble should the beast be seen by Muggles.

Yeti

Bigfoot.  The Abominable Snowman.  These are things that Yeti are known as.  They are native to Tibet, living only in the Himalayans.  The Yeti may be up to fifteen feet tall.  It is covered head to foot in pure white hair, allowing it to blend in snowy climates with ease, as well as staying warm.

Yeti are thought to be related to trolls.  However, no wizard has yet been able to get close enough to a Yeti to conduct the appropriate tests.  This is largely because Yeti devour anything that strays into its path.  That, combined with its immense strength, give the Yeti a XXXX (4X) rating.  Yeti are afraid of fire, however, and skilled wizards can usually escape safely.

Werewolf

Werewolves are found worldwide, although it is believed that they originated in Northern Europe.  Werewolves are human until the full moon, when they turn into wolves with a greater than normal viciousness.  Werewolfism is not an inherited trait.  Rather, the bite of a werewolf causes werewolfism in the human bitten.  There is no cure for werewolfism, although advances in potion making have helped limit the worst symptoms.

In human form, the Werewolf is not unusually dangerous.  In wolf form, however, they are Class XXXXX (5X) creatures.  There are many reasons for this rating.  Unlike most creatures, they are not in controlled environments.  Instead, they are among the general populace.  Far worse is the Werewolf's preferred diet.  Werewolves actively seek humans to eat, even if other prey is available.  Whereas true wolves will eat fish, mice, rabbits, and more, the Werewolf will scorn those, seeking a human instead.
