Now, then, listen up. I don't want to have to be
saying this twice.
Seventh Year - Lesson 1

Dragons. The most famous of all magical creatures, they have a
reputation for being deadly. This is not a wholly undeserved
reputation, of course, but it is somewhat overstated. Nundu, with
their killing breath, do far more damage and are harder to control.
What makes Dragons special is that they are so hard to hide.
Giant flying reptiles get noticed. Every Muggle culture has tales
of Dragons, proving that hiding them has not always been a task well
handled by Wizardkind.
Females are generally larger than the males and are generally more aggressive.
After all, they have their eggs, known as a clutch, to protect.
The worst thing you can do is to come upon a female Dragon with newly
hatched Dragonets. The second worst thing is to be anywhere near
the eggs after being laid. Both occasions tend to result in the
wizard's death. If the Dragonets have just been hatched, the
wizard will also be used as breakfast for the little ones.
Dragon hide, blood, heart, liver, horn, teeth, and claw are all
highly sought after for their magical properties. In fact, there
is no part of a Dragon that does not have such properties.
However, Dragon eggs are Class A Non-Tradeable Goods. If you are
offered a Dragon egg by someone, you may be sure that it is smuggled and
possession, and purchase, are quite illegal.
Dragons are a Class XXXXX (5X) Beast. They are skilled
fighters, with different skills. They are large and strong.
And they will eat you. Only well trained wizards should attempt to
deal with Dragons. The Ministry of Magic has a section of the Department
for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures dedicated to
Dragons.
There are 10 official breeds of Dragon. Others that may be met
are often crossbred from the existing breeds.
